The Caribbean Latin America Business Office
The Caribbean / Latin American region is populated by an estimated 450 million inhabitants. It is party to a number of intra-country trade and investment agreements. Most countries also have agreements with third countries and trading blocs. Further, sub-regions generally have their own trading bloc, such as Caricom, SICA and Mercosur. However, there seems to be an absence of a regional private sector organisation that caters to the specific need of companies in the region that engage in the export sector. While trade liberalisation is proceeding at a rapid pace, there seems to be a need for companies in the external sector to be aware of opportunities in markets in the region on a more timely basis. There is the need also, to increase our interface facility with the languages spoken in the region. The Caribbean/Latin American Business Office, a company incorporated
under the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, was created to facilitate trade, finance and investments, tourism and languages services within the region. The Business Office is headed by Kenneth Valley, a former Minister of Trade and Industry in the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Caribbean Latin America Business Office will officially launch in March 2010.
